More and more freight is being shipped in containers. SBB Cargo wants to haul these containers over as large a part of their journey as possible – for ecological as well as business reasons. The construction of Gateway Limmattal, most of which will be located on the present Limmattal marshalling yard, is vital to this plan. A gateway is a transshipment point for containers that allows shippers and customers to deliver or collect containers straight to or from trains.
